by Gill Davies, Book keeper
I have now been employed at Winchelsea House, as the bookkeeper, for nearly two years. It was quite a challenging role for me at first, but under the great supervision of Wendy, a very patient and helpful manager, I have learned a lot, and now feel quite comfortable in the role. I also appreciate the great support of Harry, who has helped me on many occasions with technology challenges, which often seem to occur on Monday mornings.
I have noticed an increase this year in members of the community phoning or coming into Winchelsea House to make inquiries regarding Adult Education courses, Occasional Care and general use of the computers, printing and photocopying. Occasional Care is almost always at full capacity, proving it still is a much needed service for the area.
The Adult Education classes income has increased on last year and there are regular Computer courses, Tai Chi, First Aid, RSA and many other courses still to come. All our room facilities are being well used for Adult Education classes, Crochet Group, Craft Group, Tai Chi and room hire paying groups.
We now have three auspice community groups; Men’s Shed, Wensleydale Rural Community Group and WYLD (Winchelsea Youth Group). The future of Winchelsea House is looking a lot brighter this year, which in turn should boost the financial situation.
I look forward to the next year.
